Many athletes and parents that are looking for an edge to get a scholarship often look beyond the coaching and workouts that their HS team provides. We decided to ask HS coaches what they think of “third party” trainers.
While the largest subset of coaches were indifferent (35%), overall coaches had a negative impression (49%) of trainers, answering that they don’t like third party trainers or think that most are bad. Only a small group (16%) of coaches either like them or think that they are good.
It seems that high school coaches like that their athletes are dedicated enough to put in extra work outside of their set team schedule. However, in most cases they think that the coaching the players receive is either not very good or just not worth the money. Take this into consideration next time you think about seeking out outside training.
